Danceworks • Milwaukee, WI
Founded in 1992, Danceworks has a mission to enhance health, joy, and creativity by engaging the community through dance and arts education. Their Danceworks Generations program is an intergenerational, multi-arts residency that partners fi rst grade school students and seniors in memory care, nursing homes, or other senior sites that lead to collaborative dancing. Their Mad Hot Rhythm program offers 5th and 6th grade classrooms to participate in weekly one-hour dance classes for 18 weeks.
IMPACT Alcohol & Other Abuse Services • Milwaukee, WI
IMPACT has served Southeastern Wisconsin since 1960 by helping people take the fi rst step towards regaining stability after experiencing a personal crisis. They do this by providing a free confi dential telephone hot line, and online resource directory that helps make it easier for community residents to get quickly connected to resources to address housing/food insecurity, health/mental health issues, and other factors impacting their health and well-being.
Mequon Nature Preserve • Mequon, WI
Located at the border of Milwaukee and Ozaukee County, the Mequon Nature Preserve is a 510-acre active ecosystem restoration site and outdoor laboratory. It is the largest protected green space in Southeast Wisconsin that offers a guiding example of habitat restoration by returning the land to a mosaic of forests, prairies, and wetlands. In the process it has established an educational conservancy that provides free fi eld trips to thousands of Milwaukee area children.
Milwaukee Riverkeeper • Milwaukee, WI
Founded in 1995, the Milwaukee Riverkeeper is an advocacy organization based in science that is working to sustain drinkable, swim-able, and fi sh-able waters in the Milwaukee, Menomonee, and Kinnickinnic river watersheds. This year will be their 30th Annual Spring Cleanup which will kick-off their Adopt-A-River season which will engage more than 4300 volunteers at 90 sites throughout the river basin. Volunteers will remove over 100,000 lbs. of trash and plant hundreds of trees where shade is needed.
Philippine Cultural & Civic Center • Milwaukee, WI
Located in Zablocki Park, the Philippine Cultural and Civic Center was started to benefi t the community. They offer a Free Medical Clinic which hosts an Annual Health Fair which community members can access resources for mental health, physical therapy, free health screenings, and a free clinic for the uninsured and under-insured. Additionally, they have children’s literacy workshops which include backpack/school supplies, and clothing distribution.
