Solid Waste Program
• The Solid Waste Program started in 1998 with the construction of the solid waste building.
• The Solid Waste Ordinance was ratified by General Counsel in 1993.
• The program employs four solid waste/recycling collection technicians and one program director.
• The program does curbside collection of solid waste and recyclables servicing 194 homes on the reservation.
• The program has three solid waste trucks for curbside collection of solid waste and recyclables.
• The program has a John Deer backhoe for yard waste.
• The program receives yearly recycling grants for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to help the recycling program.
• The program received a grant for the Bureau of Indian Affairs to clean up four illegal open dumps present on the reservation.
• The program collected 462 tons of solid waste in 2009.
• The program collected 150 tons of recyclables in 2009 which diverted it from landfills.
