Potawatomi Natural Resources

The Forest County Potawatomi Natural Resources department has the mission to follow the guidance established by the Tribal Constitution “to conserve and develop our common resources and to promote the welfare of ourselves and our descendants”. This is accomplished through research, documentation, education, outreach, and compliance with environmental regulations. This protection and care of the Earth and her people should occur through the integration of western science and the traditional ecological knowledge of the Potawatomi people. The health and integrity of the land and all its components cannot be separated from the health and continued existence of the Potawatomi people.

The Forest County Potawatomi Community’s Natural Resources Department is an interdisciplinary department which integrates closely-related program areas, including an Air Resources Program, Water Resources Program, Solid Waste Program, and Wildlife Resources Program, all assisted by the receptionist/file clerk.
