Radiology Goes Completely Digital |
|
As of May 2010, the Forest County Potawatomi Health and Wellness Center joined together with Radiology Associates of Wausau. This partnership represents advanced care for Forest County area residents. Dr. Karen Beimborn, MD, FCP family practitioner and medical director, believes that the staff at Radiology Associates is highly experienced. “Certain radiologists specialize in various medical areas and procedures which is a plus leading to quality care.”
Along with this partnership, FCP Radiology went completely digital with their scans and reports. “We felt that with all the clinics and hospitals around us being fully digital, it was time that we made that move as well,” stated Gary Gobert, RT(R)ARRT, radiologic technologist supervisor and mammographer. This means no more processor and no more dark room. Gobert goes on to say, “What the digital world does for us, is it allows us to send images across the Internet secured through a Virtual Protected Network (VPN) which is sent to Radiology Associates. Radiology Associates works with Aspirus Wausau Center and together work with us here at the FCP Health and Wellness in reading images that are scanned at our facility.” Digital X-rays are read at a fraction of the time compared to film readings. With film, a reading and report took approximately 2-3 days and with digital readings, the FCP Health and Wellness radiologists can have a report from an X-ray or scan in less than 24 hours. Going digital means a quicker turnaround time that involves no processor, no chemical developer and no chemical fumes. |
