The Fire Keeper Alternative Education Program is a charter of the Crandon School District that provides an alternative education for middle and high schools students. Qualifications for the Fire Keeper Alternative Education Program is a referral from the Crandon School District, failing or falling behind on regular school curriculum and/or in need of one-on-one assistance. Only Native American descendant students will qualify for the program due to funding from the Forest County Potawatomi Nation.
We provide a secure, smaller class-size setting. This setting allows fewer distractions and the ability to provide individual student attention.
The computer program, Nova Net, is used to set up, track progress, and provide individual student curriculums. The Fire Keeper facility also provides cultural enrichment crafts to teach students Potawatomi history and the cultural ways of our ancestors.
